1980
Although an Arab by birth, Roula Ghalayini spent the majority of her life in the West.
1994
She moved back to her Lebanese homeland at the age of 14.
1997
3 years later, she attended the American University of Beirut, where she entered the world of design. It was here that Roula made her first fashion statement with coffee stains created (somewhat) spontaneously as she rushed to class every morning.
2002
Upon receiving her graphic design degree with distinction, Roula joined Leo Burnett as an art director. Her career in advertising spanned from creating corporate identities to eventually wholistic image campaigns that went on to win awards in the likes of the Cannes, Goldendrum and Epica advertising festivals.
2007
After 5 years (including weekends) of creating and building brands, many fashion related
Roula knew that she was ready to create her own. And so Poupée Couture was born.
2008
Months later, Roula moved to Dubai and entered the pop culture world of MTV as their Creative Manager. Determined not to let the move hinder her fashion endeavours, she travelled back and forth between Dubai and Beirut.
2010
Today, Poupée Couture is sold accross the Middle East, and has recently touched into the US and European markets. The brand can also be purchased online through www. boticca.com.
Much of Roula's success is credited to her ability in creating a distinct style, whilst continuously being amusingly unexpected.
